The Most Important Thing About Nomador Pricing: You Pay When You Act
Most house sitting platforms charge you at sign-up. Nomador works differently. You can sign up, create a complete profile, browse every listing on the platform, and set up alerts. All for free, before you pay a single dollar.
As a sitter: You only pay when you first contact a host. Up until that moment, everything is free. This means you can have your profile fully built, your photos uploaded, your verification steps completed, and your search filters set. And make the payment decision when you have found a sit you actually want to apply for.
As a homeowner: You only pay when you confirm your first stay. Publishing your listing and receiving sitter applications are both free. You pay only when you decide to welcome a sitter and confirm the arrangement.
This is a fundamentally different model from TrustedHouseSitters, where payment is required at registration.
Caro and I have already set up a Nomador profile precisely because of this model. It costs nothing to create, we built out the profile in full, and we check listings on the platform regularly alongside THS.
While we were travelling through Italy, I was on Nomador looking for sits at the same time as Caro was searching on THS. I was literally on the Nomador payment page. Profile ready, sit found, everything set to go. When Caro spotted one on THS that was slightly better suited to what we needed at that moment. We went with THS.

Nomador's trip cancellation service is available on Standard and Premium plans. If a confirmed sit is cancelled by either party at short notice, the service provides financial protection for the affected member.
This is discretionary protection, not regulated insurance. The terms and conditions on the Nomador website govern specific circumstances and coverage amounts. What Nomador Does Well: France and French-Speaking Countries
Nomador's strength is concentrated and clear. France is where it dominates. With approximately 800+ listings in France compared to TrustedHouseSitters' roughly 60+, the comparison is not close. If you plan to house sit in France at any point, Nomador is the platform where the sits actually are.
The same advantage extends to other French-speaking markets: French-speaking Belgium, French-speaking Switzerland, parts of Canada, and francophone North Africa. Nomador has a feature called Stopover. A homeowner with a spare room or guest space can offer a short one-night stay to a sitter who is travelling between sits. No pet care required, no house sitting arrangement, just a hosted overnight. In spirit it is similar to Couchsurfing: a brief hospitality exchange within a community of like-minded travellers.
The Stopover feature is truly useful for full-time sitters who travel between sits and want to avoid paying for accommodation on transit nights. For the right traveller in the right situation, it is a meaningful benefit that no other major house sitting platform offers.
The problem is presentation. Nomador's headline listing count. Which shows over 3,000 "stays available" on the homepage. Includes both house sits and stopover stays in a single number. The actual count of genuine house sitting opportunities at any given time is closer to 1,200. A new user arriving on the homepage, seeing 3,000+ and comparing that to TrustedHouseSitters, is looking at a misleading comparison. The real house sit inventory is less than half the headline figure.
The fix is simple: separate the numbers. "X house sits available" and "Y stopovers available" displayed distinctly would be more honest and would serve new users better. As it stands, the conflated figure creates an expectation the platform cannot fully meet for sitters specifically seeking house sitting arrangements.
Badges: Verified, Ambassador, and Compliments
Nomador uses a badge system on member profiles rather than a numerical score. Two main status badges exist: Verified and Ambassador. Verified reflects that a member has completed the platform's identity and trust steps. Ambassador is a higher-tier recognition for established, highly active members with strong track records on the platform.
Beyond the status badges, Nomador has a compliments system. And this is one of the features that genuinely sets the platform apart. After a sit, homeowners and sitters can award each other specific skill badges recognising what they excelled at. Examples include Dog Lover, Cat Lover, Beyond Expectations, and others that highlight particular strengths.
These badges accumulate on the profile and give future homeowners or sitters a quick, specific picture of what a person is known for. Not just a star rating, but a characterisation of their actual qualities.
It is a simple, fun, human touch that a numeric score cannot replicate. A sitter who has accumulated a stack of Cat Lover and Beyond Expectations badges over ten sits is communicating something specific and credible about their approach. A rating of 4.9 tells you much less.

Homeowner Profiles: Worth Clicking Through
One feature on Nomador worth knowing about: homeowner profiles are viewable directly on the platform. When browsing listings, you can click through to see the homeowner's profile. Their Picture, reviews and badges from previous sitters, and their home.
This is useful context that most listing pages alone do not fully communicate. A homeowner's profile can tell you how engaged they are with the platform, what previous sitters have said about the experience, and whether their communication style matches what you are looking for. It is worth checking before applying.
No Dedicated App: The Practical Limitation
Nomador does not have a dedicated mobile app comparable to TrustedHouseSitters. A messaging function that exists for member communication, but there is no full platform app with push notifications and saved search alerts. New listing alerts are delivered by email.
For France specifically, where the most desirable sits can attract competitive applications quickly, the absence of real-time push notifications is a meaningful limitation.
