If you want any real control over who you approach rather than just waiting, Premium is functionally necessary, not a nice-to-have.

Once a listing is live, sitters in the relevant state and area get an alert, and according to Mindahome's own guidance, most homeowners hear from an available sitter within hours of posting. Personal contact details stay private until the homeowner chooses to share them, which is a sensible privacy default. There's no fixed minimum or maximum length for a listing either, Mindahome hosts everything from a few days to several months.

For sitters, the core exchange is the same as any other platform on this site: free accommodation in return for pet care, light home maintenance, and keeping the property looking lived in. That undercuts TrustedHouseSitters by a wide margin, and lands close to Aussie House Sitters once a discount code is factored in on either side. We think Mindahome AU should make photos mandatory for every listing.

It wouldn't cost the platform anything to require it, and it would immediately remove a genuine source of hesitation for sitters browsing the site. As it is, a listing with no images is usually enough for us to skip it entirely, and we'd guess most sitters feel exactly the same way.

The search function needs work too, and once you actually try to use it, the logic behind it doesn't quite hold up. Say we're looking specifically for Melbourne. We shouldn't need to select Victoria first, then narrow down from there. We should be able to type "Melbourne" directly and see what's available.

Instead, the current flow forces you to pick a state, then set a radius, 10km, 100km, whatever fits, as an additional filter layered on top. It's not a dealbreaker, and it's not even especially slow, but it's added complexity that doesn't need to exist.

If anything, we'd flip the structure entirely: let people search by the actual place they want to go first, and treat the state as the optional filter, not the mandatory starting point. As a sitter, we don't generally recommend joining multiple platforms at once, and this pairing isn't an exception. The better approach is to check which platform actually has listings in the location you're targeting, and go from there. In practice, you're not missing out on much by picking either Aussie House Sitters or Mindahome AU as a starting point. That said, if Mindahome AU's listing volume closes the gap further, we'd lean toward it specifically, the features we care about, the free ID check, the referral program, genuinely tip things in its favour.

One feature worth calling out on its own: Mindahome AU's referral program is displayed prominently and actually works well.
